Bio
Rina Killmeyer (Austria) has been deeply involved with Indian classical music since 2001, studying primarily under Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Gurukul Vrindavan in Mumbai, India, and with Daniel Bradley in Vienna. Her style has also been influenced by Dhrupad maestro Ustad Fariduddin Dagar and flutist Pt. Nityanand Haldipur. Rina spent many years in India learning from her masters and continued her training with Daniel Bradley in Vienna.
Since 2011, she has captivated the audience as a soloist and as part of various music, poetry, theater, storytelling, and dance projects. Her performances have taken her to major concert halls across Austria, as well as to India and to festivals across Europe. She also accompanies meditations with her music, creating a unique and immersive experience for her listeners.
Alongside her passion for traditional Indian music, she explores other musical genres, expanding the expressive range of the Bansuri through innovative approaches.
As the founder and director of "Raga – Association for the Promotion of Indian Music" in Vienna, she, along with Peter Wiesinger, is actively dedicated to advancing appreciation and recognition of Indian music in Austria. In addition to her passion for traditional Indian music, she enjoys experimenting with other musical genres, expanding the expressive possibilities of the Bansuri through new musical approaches.
